Working in challenging schools with challenging students can drain you of all your energy and leave you tired and feeling alone with all the problems faced in today's classroom. But we mustn't forget that as teachers there are many struggling to find strategies to cope with poor behaviour and that we are not alone and there are professionals out there who specialize in finding solutions to behaviour problems. Classroom management courses are in abundance and it is never too late in one's career to learn fresh ideas and strategies.

After 23 years of teaching I still search for solutions to new challenges that arise. I never sought to look for outside help, I was either too proud or the degree of challenge never really bothered me as much as it does now. Teaching for years can wear you down. It is easy to get set in your ways,  and there is nothing wrong with that, if it works for you. But for me it stopped working, I felt completely drained and not up for the challenges I was going to be faced with.

I searched the internet for someone to support me in my hours of low moral and lack of confidence and was struck by lightning when I found a professional dealing in a technique called "needs-focus approach." This approach  to dealing with classroom behaviour pioneered by Rob Plevin, turned my teaching around and I am still trying to perfect my implementation of it. Finding an effective method that works for the children and the teacher is like discovering a gold mine. It can change your life. So, when ever you have a major concern in life, away with pride, because there is always someone unique round the corner for everyone who isn't too proud to seek that special person who can change their life for the better.

I bless the internet for sending me my teaching savior.  Let me know if there is anyone out there who has also found something or someone that has changed their life around.
