Weatherman

You ask me how I'm feeling
whether or not I'm blue,
well to tell the truth dear
Weatherman,
It's entirely up to you.
When you say the sun is shining
and spring is in the air,
well my heart is full of happiness
from it's warm and gentle glare,
When you say"but"
when October comes,
the sun will hide behind a cloud
and disappear from sight,
Sorrow befalls and darkness calls
and things just don't feel right.
So, Weatherman remember
when considering how I feel
that every message you impart
can build or break me still.
The power of your own moods can effect others in a profound and dramatic way. We forget how much our everyday existence is challenged by the mood and response of others. Look at the mood set by the news paper tabloids and the power they have to set the mood of thousands. In this poem I am talking about just one person who effects my every day life deeply. It is a personification of larger issues of emotional power and control.

I need a lot of sunshine and I know that when winter comes and there is less light in the day, my mood changes. But I wouldn't give the weatherman too much credit for be able to predict the weather. I think they guess at it a lot. :-)
