A box of emotions

This is a box even Pandora would hesitate to open!!

If you were to store all your emotions in a box,
each one secure and under lock,
and all you are is a mystery to man
a lifeless doll, burying your head in the sand...

What would be revealed if that lock were to break
and all your emotions dropped out on a plate?!

Would there be laugher, would there be tears?
Would there be bravery, or would there be fears?
Passion, love, kindness, contentment?
Hatred, anger, jealousy, resentment?

Would your dish be spicy or would it be bland,
would it be natural or made by man?

Would the ingredients be old and out of date
or only just selected and freshly baked?

Would the taste be sweet, the texture tender,
or sour, unpalatable, bound to offend him/her?

So, I'll leave you with this thought if I may...

what would you put in your box of emotions
to be revealed on judgement day...?

Thank you so much Fran. I wrote this poem for a friend who once told me life was better if you keep your emotions in a box. I'm afraid to say I can't entirely agree being the emotional musician that I am! Storing your feelings is like being imprisoned in your own body! But I guess there are benefits to keeping your own council. I'm trying it out and so far it hurts!

Many thanks again Fran. l look forward to reading your articles.
